About Me

The girl behind the blank-page rescue button.

Michelle, the creator of Draw Prompt Generator

Hi! I’m Michelle, the person who built this little corner of the internet. I’m half Japanese, half American, and I grew up bouncing between two worlds — summers with my grandmother in Japan filling notebooks with tiny doodles of everything I ate, and the rest of the year here in the US, sketching in the margins of my school notebooks when I was supposed to be paying attention. Drawing was the one language that felt the same in both places, and it’s been my constant ever since.

Here’s the thing though: even as someone who has loved drawing my whole life, I spent years sitting in front of blank pages with no idea what to make. I’d finally carve out time to draw, get excited, open my sketchbook, and then just… freeze. The deciding was always harder than the drawing. I’d scroll for “inspiration,” lose an hour, and never put pencil to paper. Sound familiar?

Why I made this site

Eventually I started giving myself random little assignments to skip the deciding part entirely. “Draw a sleepy fox.” “Draw a tired nurse by a rainy window.” The second the subject was chosen for me, I could just draw — and I drew so much more. That tiny trick rebuilt my entire art habit. So I made this tool to give that same gift to anyone else who stares at the blank page and freezes.

Draw Prompt Generator is the thing I wish I’d had when I was sixteen and stuck. It hands you an idea, removes the hardest step, and gets out of your way. The main generator mixes endless subjects, settings, lighting, and moods, the focused category tools let you drill one thing you want to improve, and the daily challenge keeps the habit alive one drawing at a time.

What I believe about drawing

I genuinely believe the only real secret to getting better is showing up consistently — not talent, not expensive supplies, just reps. Finished, not perfect. A messy two-minute sketch counts. A drawing nobody else ever sees counts. Every page you fill is you keeping a promise to yourself, and that adds up faster than you’d believe.

So whether you’re a complete beginner who’s scared to start or someone returning after a long break, I’m really glad you’re here. Go make something today — even something small. And if this site helps you draw even one more thing than you would have otherwise, then it’s doing exactly what I hoped.

Happy drawing,
— Michelle
